TMS Line Sees 35% Surge in Feeder Volume at Panjang Port on Export Boom

The shipping line handled 28,855 containers at the port last year, up from 20,050 boxes in 2024, according to data from TMS Line’s Lampung Branch. The growth mirrors a broader upswing in export activity through Panjang, one of southern Sumatra’s key maritime gateways. “Exports last year were indeed good. We hope this year will be even better,” said Inge Djumadi, Head of TMS Line’s Lampung Branch, speaking alongside Tia Riski, Assistant Marketing Manager.

Export volumes via Panjang Port climbed to 55,450 containers in 2025, compared with 42,590 boxes a year earlier, reinforcing demand for feeder services connecting Lampung to major transhipment hubs.

TMS Line’s vessel operations at the Panjang Container Terminal (TPK Panjang) reflected the stronger trade flows. During 2025, the company recorded 11,542 boxes of loaded export containers, 3,255 boxes of imports, and 13,832 boxes of empty container repositioning, Inge said.

She credited the performance partly to improved responsiveness at the terminal, noting closer coordination between TMS Lampung and terminal operator IPC TPK Panjang.

“Service at TPK Panjang has been very responsive to customers and shipping companies,” she said, adding that communication between the two sides has remained “harmonious.”

Looking ahead, Inge welcomed plans to strengthen port infrastructure, including the addition of a new quay container crane (QCC), which she said would help lift productivity beyond the current average of 20–25 container moves per crane per hour.
